Demon Slayer: The Upper Moons in the Swordsmith Village Explained

The appearance of the two Upper Moons in the Swordsmith Village has just made things worse for the demon slayers. Not to mention, these are much stronger than Gyutaro whom Uzui and Tanjiro’s team defeated back then.

The main plot of  Demon Slayer follows the never-ending battle between demon slayers and immortal demons. These demon slayers risk their lives to protect humanity. Within their ranks, are the Hashira, who are renowned for their unrivalled fighting abilities. However, even the Hashira, the cream of the crop find themselves helpless against the overwhelming powers of the Upper Moon.

The first conflict with an Upper Moon is shown through the fight between Akaza, the Upper Three demon and Rengoku, the Flame Hashira. It ends with Rengoku’s defeat, which is still the most emotional moment in the series. Then, in the Entertainment District Arc, Uzui and Tanjiros’ team encounter Gyutaro, the Upper Six Demon. Even if Gyutaro is the weakest of the Upper Moons, defeating him was by no means an easy task.

Though it ends with Uzui’s victory, he wouldn’t have survived if Nezuko hadn’t saved him with her powers. However, with a lost arm and a damaged eye, Uzui chooses to retire from the Demon Slayer Corps. With these incidents in mind, fans can’t help but imagine the worse for the demon slayers when two Upper Moons suddenly show up at the Swordsmith Village.

Upper Moon Four Hantengu unveils his various personas in Swordsmith Village

The Upper Moon Four demon fights using the many clones he manifests from his emotions. He has seven personalities, namely; Hantengu, Sekido, Karaku, Aizetsu, Urogi, Zohakuten, and Urami. Hantengu’s primary form exhibits severe cowardice and anxiety. Sekido, as the personification of Hantengu’s rage, is constantly irritated, annoyed, and enraged, even towards his fellow clones.

Karaku, as the manifestation of Hantengu’s relaxation, appears to be the most relaxed and laid-back of Hantengu’s clones. As a manifestation of Hantengu’s grief, Aizetsu appears completely depressed, sour, and negative, continuously condemning everything as dismal. Urogi, as a manifestation of Hantengu’s joy, is the most cheerful and giddy of Hantengu’s clones. Zohakuten, as a manifestation of Hantengu’s hatred, has many traits in common with Sekido.
Urami is revealed to be just as hypocritical and delusional as Zohakuten and Hantengu as the manifestation of Hantengu’s resentment. All these clones can use varying powers through Hantengu’s Blood Demon Art. While Urami’s skills are never mentioned in the series, the other six are tremendously strong.

Hantengu is the demon’s main personality, therefore he uses varying emotions to manifest clones using the technique called “Emotion Manifestation.” Sekido uses “Electrokinesis,” the power to generate lightning from his weapon. Karaku uses “Aerokinesis,” the power to generate and manipulate powerful gusts of wind.
Aizetsu’s ability is “Spear Projection,” which allows him to project the thrusting attack of his Yari (Japanese Blade) over great distances. Urogi’s terrifying “Sonic Scream” allows him to generate powerful sound waves from his mouth. By tapping one of the numerous drums on his back, Zohakuten’s primary Blood Demon Art provides him with the ability to manipulate and transform wood from the vegetation in his surroundings.

Upper Moon Five Gyokko has the most bizarre abilities

The Upper Moon Five appears to be irritable, superficial, and egotistical, especially when it comes to his “art.” He has killed 15 Hashira in the past with the help of his unique Blood Demon Art, “Porcelain Vases.” As the name suggests, this ability revolves around the use of porcelain vases.

He can manifest them anywhere in his proximity and simultaneously produce several pots of various shapes and sizes. Gyokko’s pots have the ability to trap objects, including people. If the sealed object is too large, the pots can simply compress them to fit within.

Gyokko’s Blood Demon Art is notably themed on the water and aquatic lifeforms. His techniques are based on summoning non-sentient entities resembling fish from his pots. These fish monsters share similar abilities and characteristics. Some of them can shoot a barrage of toxic needles at Gyokko’s targets or leave harmful acid behind when they are killed.
Gyokko can additionally summon enormous octopus tentacles from his vases to restrain or destroy his opponents. He also has the ability to manipulate and create water from his porcelain vases, which he utilises to suffocate his opponents by sealing them inside a hardened form of liquid.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 4 will explore Muichiro’s past.

Season 3 of Demon Slayer is unveiling one shocking secret after another. Here’s how the Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 4 will glimpse at the Mist Hashira Muchiro’s past.

Demon Slayer primarily focuses on the never-ending battle between demon slayers and immortal demons. These demon slayers put their lives on the line to protect humanity. The Hashira are highly regarded within their ranks for their unparalleled fighting skills.

The demon slayer corps has only nine Hashira, one of which is the 14-year-old Muichiro Tokito. When the series first introduces Muichiro, he seems to be an airhead, utterly unconcerned about his surroundings. Despite that, he is also blindly loyal to Kagaya Ubuyashiki. He doesn’t care when the Hashira’s are making an issue of Tanjiro carrying a demon with him in every mission.

However, Muichiro only steps in when Tanjiro talks impolitely to the leader of the demon slayer corps. He throws a few pebbles at Tanjiro’s head, hurting him with his strength and making him realise his mistake. Now that the “Swordsmith Village Arc” is airing, this brief scene from way back then appears highly crucial. Season 3 Episode 4 of Demon Slayer will briefly explore Muichiro’s past and Kagaya’s importance in his life.

What will Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 4 cover?

Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 4, titled “Thank You, Tokito,” is set to be released on Sunday, April 30 2023. Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 4, titled “Thank You, Tokito,” is set to be released on Sunday, April 30 2023.

The scene will then change to a flashback of a heavily injured Mucihiro who has just lost his memory. Kagaya is sitting there with his wife, consoling the child that his memory will return as long as he has the will to survive. Kagaya further adds that in order to achieve that, Muichiro needs to begin with trivial matters and clear the “mist” inside his head. The mist he speaks of later becomes Muichiro’s identity as the Mist Hashira.

The flashback ends with Mucihiro taking Kotetsu to safety. As he ponders over whether it is right to leave the village unprotected, he assures himself that Kagaya recognises his value; therefore, he must not hesitate. The flashback scene is extremely brief, and most of Kagaya’s words are confusing.

However, it indicates that the scene is from before Muichiro joins the demon Slayer corps. As for why Muchiro loses his memory, the series will reveal it later. His lost memories are the direct result of his trauma of being attacked by a demon and losing his twin brother, which will not be covered in Demon Slayer Season 3.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 3 hints at Genya’s true identity

Demon Slayer Season 3 has revealed one jaw-dropping twist after another. Here’s how the third episode subtly hints at Genya’s true identity.
The fast-paced action and storytelling inDemon Slayer make it popular with viewers. The plot revolves around demon slayers fighting immortal demons to protect humanity. With the “Swordsmith Village Arc” finally airing, the story is gradually taking shape and reaching its final destination.

Demon Slayer is now only a few stops away before it draws to its conclusion. With that in mind, it is no wonder that all the mysteries and secrets will be revealed one by one. When fans see Genya for the first time, he doesn’t necessarily seem evil, but his horrible personality doesn’t match well with his profession.
Nonetheless, something about him sticks out like a sore thumb, especially the fact that Genya is the only demon slayer who doesn’t own a sword. Instead, he uses guns to fight. The recent episode ever so subtly hints there’s more to Genya than meets the eye.

Genya’s identity teased in Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 3

In the first episode of Swordsmith Village Arc, Tanjiro has no choice but to visit the village to meet Haganezuka to get a new sword. There, he meets Mitsuri and Genya at the hot springs. However, what’s odd is that he finds Genya’s broken tooth, but the latter evades any questions regarding this.
Furthermore, while talking with Genya in the third episode, Tanjiro notices that the missing tooth has grown back. Genya again tries to evade Tanjiro’s question, only to find out that the latter has kept the tooth all this while. He soon kicks out Tanjiro, and the scene ends on a funny note. The episode continues, and fans get distracted by the Upper Moon’s attack. However, this brief detail hints at Genya’s true identity.

What is Genya’s true identity?

he is the younger brother of the Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa. They both lose the rest of their family to demons, after which, Sanemi joins the Demon Slayer Corps, leaving Genya behind. Sanemi kills their mother, who has just turned into a demon, to save Genya’s life. However, the young Genya doesn’t understand and cruelly calls him a murderer for taking his mother away from him.
Genya believes that Sanemi only joins the Corps and leaves him behind because of the blame he puts on him. Desperately seeking forgiveness from only family, Genya has no choice but to join the Corps to be able to talk with him. However, Sanemi always keeps Genya at arm’s length, constantly reminding him of not being strong enough to survive in this profession.

Knowing he is weak enough to become a demon slayer, Genya consumes the flesh of demons and gains some of their powers. Since he has demon attributes in him, he cannot use breathing techniques, which is why he uses a gun to fight demons.

However, what Genya doesn’t know is that Sanemi never once blamed him for what he said in the past. All his actions, including being cruel to him, is to keep him away from the risky job of slaying demons where one can lose their lives any moment.

Demon Slayer: The power of Zenitsu’s subconscious mind

The mysterious power of Zenitsu’s subconscious mind makes him one of the strongest characters in the series. Here’s a look at how he can fight in his sleep.

Demon Slayer's fast-paced action and storytelling make it popular among viewers. The series focuses on demon slayers fighting immortal demons to protect humankind. Fighting such powerful that heal almost instantly and have no weaknesses to speak of, an ordinary human can’t defeat them.
However, the power of the breath and their special Nichirin sword sets these demon slayers apart. These fighters put their lives on the line to protect the world and ultimately annihilate Muzan Kibutsuji.

One such demon slayer is Zenitsu Agatsuma, a central supporting character in the series. He is famous for being cowardly and whiny. The series takes its sweet time in his development, but Zenitsu becomes an iconic character once it happens. Though he is skilled, he can only use his power in a state of unconsciousness.

What are Zenitsu’s skills in Demon Slayer?

Zenitsu specializes in Thunder Breathing Style, which he learns from his teacher and adoptive grandfather, Jigoro Kuwajima, a former Hashira. Though Zenitsu excels in using the First Form of Thunder Breathing, he fails to master the other five forms.

This breathing style is challenging and only has six forms, with the first form being the most difficult one. Zenitsu has its own variations of the First Form, “Thunderclap and Flash.” Later, he also develops his original Seventh Form, which he uses to defeat Kaigaku – a disciple of Jigoro who later becomes a demon and rises to the rank of Upper Moon Six.

How does the power of Zenitsu’s subconscious mind work?

While Zenitsu is in the state of sleep, he can awaken his true strength. Because he is tremendously afraid of demons or anything that looks creepy, Zenitsu will have a sense of fear while going against them. This is why he is always against the idea of becoming a demon slayer in the first place.

However, Zenitsu’s true power resides in his subconscious mind, where he cannot see his opponents. Following his instincts alone, with great precision and skill, he annihilates even his strongest enemies with one blow. Zenitus’s supernatural hearing also plays a massive role in his uncanny fighting style.

He can pick up sounds from far away and discern a person’s true feelings by listening to their heartbeat. In his sleep, his extraordinary hearing enables him to determine his surroundings, the location of his enemies, and their attacks. This is how Zenitsu’s subconscious mind unleashes his true potential as a demon slayer.
